COMMITTEE MEMBER OPEN CALL 2018
Market Gallery is looking for Committee Members to join between August and October 2018.
Market Gallery is an artist-led visual arts organisation in the East End of Glasgow and presents a diverse programme of exhibitions, projects, and events, that supports practitioners at varying stages of their careers.
The gallery is at a crucial point in its eighteen year history. Amid vital discussions about the value, position and sustainability of artist-led models the current Board of Trustees and Committee are developing strategies towards a more inclusive and supportive future for the organisation. We seek applications from those who also want to bring about change.
The committee membership is a two-year, voluntary position that offers first-hand experience and insight into the running of a contemporary art space. We meet weekly and we are looking for people who can work within a small team and contribute to a stimulating and discursive environment. Committee Members generate and realise Market Gallery’s programme, as well as manage the organisation. Essential tasks that are shared amongst Committee Members include, but are not limited to, administration, research and curation, communicating with artists and partner organisations, fundraising, finance, marketing, maintenance and installing artwork.
Committee members are expected to have a clear interest in contemporary art and be able to dedicate roughly 2 days a week, fluctuating according to the programme and calendar.
To apply, please email email@example.com with a CV and an expression of interest (300 words max) stating why you want the position and what qualities you could bring to the Committee and Market Gallery.
Deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 13 July. Interviews to be held the week of Monday 23 July to a start in August/September.
If you have any questions or wish to submit an application in an alternative format please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0141 5567276.
Please note applicants in full-time education will not be considered.
