Micro Commission Open Call

Market Gallery is now accepting submissions for short works of different textures, resonances and affect across printed material & ephemera, to be published in celebration of our twenty-fifth birthday this September.
This is a funded opportunity inviting Scotland-based artists & writers to respond to the broader themes in Market Gallery’s programme, grounded in Edouard Glissant’s ‘Poetics of Relation’ and the ample possibilities that open up to us when we consider how we – the human and more-than-human – might relate to one another. By viewing the world through a lens of the collective/connected, how might we move towards each other, to dream and build an alternative shared future?
We invite you to respond to the following two phrases:
to consent to not to be a single being
the future and past are superstitious
We are interested in responses of all forms – including but not limited to poetry, critical writing, drawings, combination of image & text, short stories, songs, and letters. Our only parameters are that the submission must fit on one side of A4 and be in some way a response to one/both the phrases above.
Further details:
- We are offering a flat fee of £150
- Your submission must fit within one A4 page
- The form of the response is entirely up to the applicant
- We are accepting new and restaged material
- We are accepting submissions until 11.59pm 6th August
How to apply:
Please upload a PDF of your submission via Google Form here and please fill in the corresponding Equalities Monitoring Form.
