Finding us
Market Gallery is at 13 Ross Street, Glasgow G1 5AR, in the Barras. Open in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
We’re part of the Many Studios building. Our section is at the right-hand end as you look at it, painted dark green, and the entrance is to the right of the large window.
We sometimes host events in the Many Studios event space, through the bright yellow door at 3 Ross Street.
We don’t have regular opening hours. The gallery is open during exhibitions (times are on each exhibition page), for events, and by appointment.
The space
Market Gallery and Many Studios both have level access from the street. There are gender neutral, wheelchair accessible toilets with grab rails and space to turn, one next to the gallery (which also has a shower) and one next to the events space. These are not Changing Places toilets, and there are no baby changing facilities.
We don’t have a hearing loop. We don’t have a set space for prams and buggies, but we’ll always find room for them. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Events and programming
Our screenings are always captioned, and we provide audio description where we can.
If you need audio description, live captioning or BSL interpretation, please let us know at least a week before the event so we can book it. If that isn’t possible, still get in touch and we’ll do our best.
There will always be a seat with a back and arms. If you can’t see one in the space, just ask a member of the Market team. We can also set up a quiet space if you need somewhere to decompress.
Each exhibition and event page says how long the event lasts and when the breaks are, and includes sensory information, such as lighting levels, loud sound and strobe.
We can provide materials in large print, Easy Read or on yellow paper (for example, reading group texts if you’re dyslexic). Let us know ahead of the event and we’ll have them ready.
Some events, especially exhibition openings, have alcoholic drinks. There are always soft and non-alcoholic options too.
Openings can be busy and noisy, with people spilling outside. If you’d prefer a quieter visit, come during opening hours or book an appointment. We’re also starting to hold daytime events halfway through each show, with tea, coffee and snacks.
Access bursaries
If something makes it hard for you to come to a Market event, we can help with the cost of travel, childcare, other caring costs, or anything else that would help you attend. Request an access bursary.
