Join our board!

Market Gallery is looking for new board members to start between March-June 2024.

We are a small, dedicated board of trustees who advise a Programming Committee and Programme Administrator on how to achieve their goals, and continue the organisation’s 20+ years of supporting emerging artists and creating platforms for learning, research and community.

The board communicates regularly, with a minimum of 5 meetings per year including an AGM, and exceptional extra meetings when major changes need advising upon. There are additional opportunities to advise committee members on achieving their programming interests and support their research into Market’s ongoing structural changes, and to help shape the role of Programme Administrator, a unique position in the ARI (Artist Run Initiative) landscape which we are currently piloting.

This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding position which allows board members to help shape the direction and strategy of an established art space with an experimental and flexible approach. As an organisation we have a non-hierarchical ethos and a horizontal structure. We allocate responsibilities and tasks according to capacity, and we work flexibly around each others’ schedules. This position is voluntary and travel expenses can be reimbursed.

We are looking for individuals with one or more of the following:

  • Experience on a board in the creative sector
  • Experience and knowledge in finance and law
  • Knowledge of budgets and Creative Scotland funding
  • Experience in senior positions within the arts or charity sectors
  • Knowledge of and interest in collaborative working, mutual aid and Artist Run Initiatives
  • Experience and knowledge of the East End of Glasgow
  • Residence in Glasgow

We especially encourage those who are LGBTQIA+, BPOC, living with disabilities, and from working class or low socio-economic backgrounds to join us.

Detailed role specification and further information about this position can be found *here*
Contact marketgalleryboardoftrustees@gmail.com with a short statement outlining your interest in the role, your relevant experience and a CV (optional) by 12th February.

Informal interviews will be held w/o 19th February.
