26th October – 6th December 2013

Opening: 25th October 2013 6-9pm

Market Gallery presents ‘New States,’ the first solo exhibition by Glasgow based artist Beth Dynowski. The exhibition extends through three gallery spaces, where the artist presents a lexicon of ceramic, wood and metal sculptures, found objects, images and texts. The exhibition stages a moment between a state of collapse and construction, at once referring to our current political moment and extending beyond this definition to a point of poetic indetermination.

Beth Dynowski graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2011 and is currently part of the Centre for Modern Thought, Aberdeen. Selected past exhibitions and residencies include ‘Unmarked’ The Briggait, ‘Drawn Together’ Siena Art Institute, Scottish Sculpture Workshop, ‘Least Event’ Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2012, ‘Geoaesthetics in the Anthropocene’ Salisbury University & ‘The Legacy of Holweck’ at Platform Arts Centre. Beth currently works as Lead Artist for The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh and will be artist-in-residence at Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin from November 2013 – April 2014.
