Strategies for Sustaining the Artist Run Space – with Frieda Ford

We will be hosting a two-day workshop with Frieda Ford on 18th and 19th July from 2-5pm
~ Strategies for Sustaining the Artist Run Space ~
Working from a series of interviews from artist-run/grassroots spaces and wider case studies, Frieda’s workshop will undertake a series of discussion and writing activities and games to co-produce knowledges around the question:
How do we sustain ourselves and support each other to keep artist/grassroots organising surviving and thriving in the political contexts and challenges we face?
Frieda’s workshop has been developed for artists and grassroot organisers but it is open to anyone interested in these structures.
The results of this workshop, alongside Frieda’s earlier research, will be contributed to an ever growing online resource, accessible to all; that will work as a toolkit for organisers worldwide to generate their own answers to the workshop question. Research designed by the Workers, for the Workers.
Note: Contribution to the resource is entirely optional, you can take part whether you would like to be part of the resource or not.
The event is free but ticketed so please book a space through our Eventbrite. There are both one-day and weekend tickets available.
Snacks and refreshments will be available!
Frieda Ford was on the committee of artist-run spaces in Edinburgh between 2020 and 2025. She has taken a reflective step back from artist-run organising to collect stories, research and ideas from spaces in Scotland, Mexico, Greece, Indonesia and America (so far).
